A change in routine, even if it’s small, can really throw us for a loop!
If you are in full on back to school mode right now, you know what I mean! And, even if you aren’t, the days are getting shorter and are making the evenings seem to go by so quick!
This is the time our diet starts to slip. In all the craziness, who wants to spend the time cooking dinner when you can just grab a pizza on the way home! (Sometimes the pizza just needs to happen though, cuz… pizza!) BUT, we don’t want this to be the default! So, how do we break the crazy-cycle?
We meal plan!
I know, it sounds awful! lol! BUT, it doesn’t have to be! So, stay with me.
A little bit of planning really does go a long way. AND if you take that little bit of time to plan, you are going to save yourself a whole bunch of time during the week when the crazy is at it’s peak! Here are my top tips, and a free Meal Planning guideI made just for you!
- Plan a prep day. Think of what you want for the week, go shopping, and spend an hour or so chopping, washing and batch cooking for the week.
- Cook once eat 2-3 times. This is huge! Always cook enough to have leftovers, or to have the main ingredient for another meal. Ex: Cook a whole chicken for dinner one night and use the leftovers in a salad or tacos the next day.
- Have picky eaters? Cook your meats and sides simply and add spices and sauces to each dish. This keeps your need for something tasty and exciting up while keeping the whining down!
- I love buying my staple items through Amazons Subscribe and Save program. I have a handful of things that we use ALL THE TIME and it’s so nice to just have them show up on my door step every month!
Not too bad right?! And to make it even easier, I made a Meal Planner guideto help you get started! It has a meal plan, shopping list, a weekly health tracker, and more tips to get you going! Want to make it even more fun? Make your self a nice cuppa before you sit down to plan. Even though you are adulting, you can still make it enjoyable by taking time for yourself!
I hope you enjoy it, and would love to see how you put it to use!
